  1. Did Elvis ever sing any of Bob's songs?

    1. "I Shall Be Released" - not official but just working on stuff in the studio. Ends with the emphatic statement: "Dylan."

    1. Not supposedly. It's in the 1969 Rolling Stone interview.

  5. It's been brought to my attention that the photo appears to have been faked - see http://www.expectingrain.com/discussions/viewtopic.php?p=1438376#p1438376

I found it online in a cluster of photos promoting an Elvis book, not a Dylan-world item at all. I wasn't trying to fool anyone. I was fooled myself. I'm sorry for misleading you. And sorrier that it wasn't true.

  6. Not your fault, please don't apologise. Photos can be easily faked.
The Beatles really did meet Elvis. Are there any photos (real ones) of that?
Thanks to everyone for the replies to my previous question.

  8. I'm the one who wrote the Elvis book. Apologies for any confusion. I knew the picture was a fake. In a long entry on Tomorrow Is A Long Time (for some information in which I relied on the Bob encyclopedia), I don't even suggest the two ever met. It's clear they didn't. I do, though, write about the links between them, including details of all the Dylan songs Elvis sang. The section ends with this . . .

Almost a year after Elvis’ death, in an interview with Robert Shelton which appeared in Melody Maker in July 1978, Dylan told the writer: ‘It was so sad. I had a breakdown! I broke down . . . one of the very few times I went over my whole life. I went over my whole childhood. I didn't talk to anyone for a week after Elvis died. If it wasn’t for Elvis and Hank Williams, I couldn’t be doing what I do today.’
