  1. Hi Michael

any chance Dylan will be in Swansea for the Thomas centenary?

Do you rate Thomas as an influence on Dylan, apart from the name?

your house looks wonky, or had Nancy been at the vin rouge?

  2. Hi Joe
It struck me when I read it that the MP had invited him and this had been blown up into this Dylan Might Come story. Well, he might. Who knows?

I took part in a couple of very interesting panel discussions in 2011, in Swansea and Lincoln, about links between "the two Dylans"; and what the Dylan Thomas expert said, which made a lot of sense to me, was that Thomas had been a big figure, a hero, in Greenwich Village when Bob arrived, and had been a large influence on the Beats - not so much for his poetry itself but for his modernity: for his openly wanting to be famous and his general bohemianism. Of course, Bob's name change preceded his arrival in Greenwich Village but not his encountering the work and aura of the Beats in Dinkytown MN.

My house is not "wonky" in real life. There's a different painting at http://www.michaelgray.net/dylan-weekends.html - and if you know any fellow Dylan enthusiasts, please direct their attention to that webpage. Thank you.
