MAP 2: BRITAIN c.1370

The Gough Map, thought to have been created around 1370, and including over 600 place names (with just three written in gold), was digitised in 2008 by the Linguistic Geographies Project. A very phallic Scotland, profusely showering those northern isles around.

  1. It always amazes me how they drew maps back then that were generally the shape of the place in question. And yeah, it's phallic too, which just goes to show that even cartographers can be critics too!
