  1. Hi Michael,

I've seen a large set of these photos of my home town, and they're certainly beautiful. He took some on O'Connell Bridge, Dame Street, South Great Georges Street, and the traffic on College Green, complete with old green buses.

The photo above is taken at the corner of Dame Street and Georges Street. For your interest and for others, I've included a link below, where the Irish photographer Paul Walsh followed Cishman's trail around Dublin and took pictures of the same scenes, in 2011. You hover the mouse over the old photo and modern Dublin appears.

By the way, if you look closely at the foreground of the second photograph, of the foreground of O'Connell Bridge, you'll see a skyblue Volkswagon Beetle, and behind this a black and white striped box for a traffic policeman. According to my father, this guy could be a right tyrant, waving his baton at motorists as they idled by, roaring his own brand of encouragement!

    Thanks for sharing that photo!

    1. Many thanks for this URL, placing the scene and giving us your father's memory. Much appreciated.

  2. Fabulous! Just how I remember it from summer holidays with my grandparents. (I was 7 in 1961.)
