(Carmichael's son comments he's glad that Peer recorded Georgia On My Mind because subsequently Hoagy shopped around for more lucrative deals: he earned more cash from his songs but lost his royalties.) Anyway your piece led me to listen to Tight Connection To My Heart and Someone's Got A Hold of my Heart and I can bring you the following baffling gem of pedantry.

The new Dylan lyrics book accurately conveys that what Dylan sings on "Got A Hold of My Heart" (on Bootleg Series 1-3) is: "I can hear the hot-blooded singer on the bandstand croon/ "Poison Love", "Red Roses" and "Memphis In June"."

I have another version of this song (from the Genuine Bootleg Series Vol. 1) where Dylan does indeed sing: "I can hear the hot-blooded singer on the bandstand croon/ "September Song". "Memphis In June". which is what is printed in the 2004 book Lyrics. Fascinating stuff, I enjoyed the clips.
mick goldhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15618872865409140113noreply@blogger.com
